He just wanted to save a little bit of money.
In today's economy, budgeting is a necessity for many people -- even brides and grooms.
Tam, who works for a Vancouver public relations firm, will no doubt be one of many couples in 2009 seeking innovative ways to say 'I do' without breaking the bank.
Lynn O'Brien, producer of the Fraser Valley Wedding Festival, which takes place March 8, says e-vites or self-designed invitations are just one way people will be saving money.
O'Brien says she expects weddings will be smaller too.
'Obviously [the economy] is far-reaching and it's going to impact everything.'
People will also be looking to wed in more interesting and inexpensive venues such as museums or parks, she says. And more people will probably use online or electronic RSVP sites instead of sending out postage-paid envelopes."

Memorable Wedding with a Budget
Hi,
My name is Darren Ho, and I've been creating a website that will show people how to create an incredible wedding if you are on a tight budget. If you were like me, it was a stressful time, wanting to get the best of everything, but knowing you could not afford it so you had to use alternative solutions.
I've been married for 3 years and I was able to minimise a huge amount of my cost with thinking outside the box. This absolutely did not compromise on quality, but it made it more personal and memorable with our guests. Also I got to use the money that I saved on my wedding with more permanent things later on such as furniture and putting a down a deposit for my first house.
We had a budget in mind and we wanted to do everything needed to keep within it. Easier said than done when sometimes all you see from businesses is jacking up the price because they can justify that you should be spending that huge amount because it is your wedding.
Our marriage day is one of the best days of our lives, like so many others and wanted it to be perfect in everyway. To get the end result of everyone loving our wedding made it even more special. They were entertained every moment there was a break, and if you are like me, wanted to make everyone confortable and happy that they were ther during your wedding reception, not feel awkward sitting with people they didn't know.
